MY THOUGHTS: Tonight’s movie night featured Goosebumps 2. We had seen the first one as a family so we watched this together. We cover a number of demographics with a 16 year-old son, my husband who is 51 & myself at 41. We each bring a different perspective.
Our son loved Slappy. His sarcastic humor and antics brought laughs from all of us. My husband enjoyed all the various monsters especially the Abominable Snowman. Ken Jeong was the highlight for me. He is hysterical and played the part of the quirky next-door neighbor perfectly.
We all agreed that children under 10 may be a bit frightened by a few things. Use your best judgement. For instance, the headless horseman and the witches might be a bit much for sensitive viewers. On a personal level, as a Christian mom, I could have done without the spells. Granted there were only a few and I highly doubt they are ‘real’ incantations. However, some Christian parents may find it unsettling.
That is really the only negative to the movie. The acting is great. The humor isn’t dirty. You can tell that the actors were really having genuine fun in their roles. We all agreed on a 4 star rating.
