2015 Holiday Gift Guide: Accentuate

Accentuate
“Leaving other classic  games  out  in the  cold,  Accentuate boasts  a simple  yet humiliating premise: repeat  a  given quotation aloud in a  randomly  selected accent  and see if teammates can guess what it is! The worse the accent attempts are, the more hilarious the game becomes as players struggle to separate their German from their Spanish. Featuring 30 different drawls from around the globe! The box comes complete with 90 Accent Cards featuring 30 different accents from around the globe (each repeated three times), 90 different Quotation Cards, a timer and a dice to select gameplay options. MSRP $29.99″

From the UK, Accentuate Games has brought their first game for the over 16 crowd to the US! The basis of the game is pretty simplistic: guess the other players’ accents. No additional verbal clues are allowed. No hand gestures, either.
If you’re tired of charades & other run-of-the-mill party games for grown-ups, then you’ll want to try this out. Roll dice to swap, play, or pass. Draw a card. Read the quote in the accent indicated. Other players have to guess the accent. There’s a 30 second timer & each card has varying amount of points Whoever gets to 12 points first, wins. Pretty easy, right?
Well, that depends on your accent skills! Either way, it’s good, clean fun for family game night or entertaining those wonderful teenagers who are tired of Monopoly!
We had a good time trying out accents & discovered a few we didn’t know. It definitely resulted in some crazy laughter!
