Double check your calendar. It really is the middle of August! Where did Summer go? Back-to-school thoughts dance in our heads like Christmas sugar plums. Ok, school thoughts aren’t as sweet, but you get the point. Whether you need a more streamlined routine for work or school or simply love to add new products to the mix, August’s Beauty Box is ready for you.
Occasionally we all need to shake up the routine to stay out of a rut. Beauty Box 5 is the perfect solution. As a monthly subscription service for $12 per month, 5 new or new-to-you products arrive for you via USPS. By adding up the cost of the 5 products’ full size MSRP, you’ve see how much money remains in your pocket. Every month brings a whole lot of bang for your 12 bucks.
Let’s dive in & see what goodies we’ve received.Immediately, my eyes focused on the ‘Hot Stuff Go Pop Compact.’ Jerome Alexander’s mirrored compact is a very vibrant hot pink. Three eye shadows, three lip glosses, & 2 brushes snap into the reusable case. Mix & match variations are available via their website. I just thought this was adorably neat. I like the versatility & that you don’t have to toss the whole thing when the shades run out.
Although the MSRP is $10.99, I have to say that’s fair considering what some companies price one single shade. Here you get 3 eye & 3 lip. The clasp is easy to open, even for arthritic hands & it’s no larger than a cell phone. My compact was 6 shades of pink & even though I’m not a pink kind of girl, I loved the glosses.
Next up, we have Donnamax’s Printed Nail File with case. Printed with a comic-book style design, the case keeps it safe & sound in bags or purses. Not too much can be done to make nail files exciting, but if you want a little style while you file, than you’ll love this. I’m not sure about the $4.99 MSRP. I personally wouldn’t invest that much on one file, but to each her own.
‘Luxe Longwear Eyeliner in Plum’ from Starlooks is an impressive, waterproof liner. It did pass the waterproof test for me. I loved the brush & it’s easy to control. That said, I wasn’t a huge fan on the plum shade. For me, I looked washed out & tired wearing it alone. On top of shadow, it got lost. I can’t see spending $19.99 for a liner when I can find a similar pen in a complimentary color for half that price or less. But, this is one of the reasons that BB5 is so great. I didn’t have to waste money to discover that I didn’t like this product. The entire box cost less than the one product.
Hask Beauty is a regular in BB5 boxes. Each time they’re included, I’m happy. For August, we receive the deep conditioning hair treatment. Investing ten minutes with the treatment does wonders for the hair. With an MSRP of $2.39, it’s a worthy buy.
Finally, we have Pur-lisse Pur Moist-Hydra-Balance Moisturizer. While many moisturizers tout the same benefits, such as anti-aging, & have similar ingredients-plant extracts & vitamin E, I’ve yet to see results that justify it’s $55 price tag. Pur-lisse is also a veteran of the BB5 boxes. I’ve used different products of theirs via BB5. It simply fails to impress me. Your results may be different. I’ll stick with my BB cream.
August’s box brought some new & some repeat performers. All in all, I think it was a decent box & fun to work with. Full product info is available along with ordering info through http://www.beautybox5.com. Pay them a visit. You’ll be glad you did.
I received the aforementioned products in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
