This is the time of year you dreamt about while shoveling snow from your never-ending driveway in January. Summer is almost (officially) here. Weddings, graduations, & parties are all about to erupt on your social calendar. Are you ready? Okay, maybe not so much?Beauty Box 5 may very well be your answer. This incredible, monthly subscription box arrives monthly in your mailbox. For $12 per box, you can try new & new-to-you products. Our May box is here with its 5 surprises.
It appears that this box has a theme & that theme is: beauty fixes. First up, we have Bio Swiss’ Stainless Steel Mini Tweezer. I can’t ever find tweezers or nail clippers in my house to save my life! Thankfully, these come in a little case all their own. For an MSRP of $4.99, they’re perfect for purses & make-up bags. I found them much easier to hold than standard tweezers. They grip well & get the job done.
Coastal Scents adds their Classic Synthetic Brush to this month’s quintet. I know Coastal Scents’ products from past usage & respect their quality. This particular brush has a long handle which helps to steady it when applying eye make-up. For an MSRP of $1.95-$2.49 depending on the exact brush, it certainly is well made.
Essenza is a new brand (to me). Their contribution to May’s box is their Luxury Hand Soap. Although it claims to provide moisturize while cleansing & contains essential oils, this one fell flat for me. I wasn’t expecting anything miraculous, but I guess I expected more from ‘Luxury Soap’. With an MSRP of $4.99 for 16.0 oz. I will stick with my usual hand soap. It would look pretty in a gift basket due to the pretty exterior.
I’ve long preferred gel blush so I was happy to see Styli-Style’s Blush Highlighter Stick. I’m not sure what it is about powdered blush, but it never seems right on my face. What I love most about this highlighter is that it is easy-to-grip & goes on lightly. Better to start with a little & build up than use a product that goes on too dark. I believe it’s worth every penny of its $5.99 MSRP.
Finally, we have Dermalogica’s Active Moist. My issues with this moisturizer are twofold. First, it’s $60 price tag. Wow. That’s a bit much for 3.4 ounces. Regardless, many consumers would consider paying that much if the product is worth it. However, I saw zero difference in this product. It came to me in a sample size & was enough for say a week’s worth of use. Although it claims to even out texture, I couldn’t even feel it on my skin. I’ve used off brands that made more of a difference. It was a huge disappointment.
